Here are some things

22 Oct

Alrighty. Today get prepared for some random getting it togetherness. Here are some things.

1.) I have always, for my whole entire life, had the driest scalp in the county. Whichever county I was in at the time. It’s very bad during the winter. I’m sorry if this is a little too personal for some of you but how can I get my life together if I can’t get my own head under control? So, I need to know remedies. If anyone has any ideas besides using dandruff/scalp shampoo (duh), then I NEED you to share. And if you don’t, then that’s just mean.

2.) I am now an official blogger for World Help which means that at least once a month you can expect to see a post here informing you about a humanitarian crisis and what you can do to help.

3.) I have just come across an organization called Stand in the Gap Ministries which you might want to check out. I’m currently waiting on information about the Life Launch program, specifically, and will share my experience here soon.

Okay! Ponder on all that and get back to me. Thanks, pals.

Have you tried tea tree oil in your shampoo? There are shampoos with tea tree oil in them, but I just take my regular shampoo and mix in a a big of the oil in. You can buy it at a local health food store – they usually have “recipes” on how much to put in the shampoo for your needs.

As an added plus, it also works as a lice repellent. For those teachers or parents of young ones in the crowd.

Just FYI, I have been loving reading these posts. I always feel like we are kindred spirits (because I’m all stalker like that) and I have really gotten some great things to ponder from all your posts. Like, for real, it never even occurred to me to do a cleaning schedule and I have obsessive compulsive disorder. What’s up with that?

Anyway, I wanted to share with you about the dry scalp issue. Have you seen a dermatologist? I had the same problem for years. It drove me INSANE. My head would itch and then I’d scratch it and it would flake like snow was falling. This was super awkward and embarrassing, so finally my mom drug me to a dermatologist. Turns out I had severe Seborrheic Dermatitis. At first they put me on a really expensive steriod in mousse form, which worked, but was breaking the bank. So I went back, and we tried a different approach with a lotion (Still a prescription. I can email you a picture of the bottle.) that was very inexpensive and worked like a charm. I still have issues with it when I’m stressed, but the lotion always does the trick and it’s usually solved within a few days. Another note, I now get my primary care to fill that prescription so I don’t have to pay a specialist. If it’s bad, your primary doctor should be able to recognize it.

So there you have a novel about my flaky scalp, and before 10 a.m. I hope it helps!
